Patrol Captain

Captain Michael Leishman was born in Redwood City and brings a strong personal connection to the community he now serves.

Captain Leishman has 20 years of experience working in law enforcement with San Mateo County agencies, including the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and the San Mateo Police Department.  Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of operational and leadership roles and has earned a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and a collaborative approach to policing.  He has been actively involved in initiatives that strengthened relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve, while also demonstrating a strong commitment to mentoring and developing personnel.

Over the course of his career, Captain Leishman has been recognized for his steady leadership during critical incidents, his dedication to officer development, and his focus on service-oriented policing.  Colleagues and community members alike have noted his ability to balance accountability with compassion, and his belief that effective law enforcement is built on trust, communication, and respect.
